About this audiobook
Kenneth E. Bailey
Kenneth E. Bailey (1931–2016) was a renowned New Testament scholar, missionary, and author. The son of missionary parents who served in Egypt, the Sudan, and Ethiopia, he was immersed in Arabic and Arab culture at a young age. This experience, combined with his doctoral studies in biblical languages, gave him a unique perspective on reading the Scriptures in their cultural contexts. During his career, Bailey taught at the Evangelical Seminary in Cairo, the Near East School of Theology in Beirut, and the Tantur Ecumenical Institute in Jerusalem. His books include Poet and Peasant, The Good Shepherd, and Jesus Through Middle Eastern Eyes: Cultural Studies in the Gospels.

.truely a great book! Extremely important for a more realistic understanding of the intended messagess that have. Been often times misunderstood. We find a much kinder Jjesus.Christ…ABSOLUTELY GREAT…this book can lead one to realize how the parables and other stories in the bible were perhaps not as mysterious and vague seeming as they appear to our culture today….i mean, i realize thats a duh, but when we find out what applicable cultural circumstances were at play at the time of the writings, its a wonder how that background information has not been passed along to other cultures who have interest in the bible….why dont more biblical scholars know these things? - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5

This book offers a unique perspective for Western readers of familiar Gospel narratives. I discovered this book a few weeks before Easter and it served as a way to prepare my heart for Resurrection day. Future listeners, don't be discouraged when the narrator describes illustrations or paragraph structures. Stick with it, there is much treasure to glean if you persevere.2 people found this helpful
