Loris Owen grew up loving Roald Dahl, J.R.R. Tolkien, Tove Jansson, C.S. Lewis, Susan Cooper and Lewis Carroll. There’s nothing she enjoys more than adventure stories about other worlds. Favourite contemporary MG authors include Philip Pullman, Markus Zusak, Kieran Larwood and Louis Sachar. Some interesting facts about Loris: she piloted a plane some time before she first got in the driving seat of a car; her fondest holiday memory is holding hands with a wild green turtle when diving in Oman; her most-played song is Spanish Flea; she enjoys a good puzzle and her favourite word is metagrobologist. Born in Bolton and made in Zimbabwe, Loris has lived and worked in several countries in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. Animals and nature have always been a creative force in Loris’s writing, and you’ll always find a lovable animal somewhere in her writing.
