About this audiobook

In this gripping memoir, Jack and Rochelle Sutin recount their experiences as Jewish resistance fighters during World War II, a story that ranges from extreme horror to poignant triumph. Told through their son Lawrence, the book brings alive the reality of months spent hidden in a dank underground bunker infested with lice and disease. Jack and Rochelle is more than just an account of stark survival, however. It is also the tale of an almost impossible love affair that has lasted over fifty years, and an eloquent reminder that history is made up of the often deeply moving details of individual lives.

Editor's Note

Enduring love…

After a brief, awkward meeting years before, fate brought Jack and Rochelle together during the height of World War II. They had fled their homes in Poland after witnessing atrocities against their families and neighbors. Together, as they fell in love, Jack and Rochelle joined the resistance against Hitler as Jewish partisans. “Jack and Rochelle” is more than a memoir, offering readers a moving story of enduring love and strength in the face of unspeakable evil.

Truth is better than fiction an yet I wish that they and others in so many situations hadn’t suffered so much. It’s hard to believe such atrocities occurred less than 100!years ago. Yet whole families were hacked up in 2023 and families bombed to reach a few very bad men.

This is one of the best books I have read in the last five years! It tells the story that is not normally told about Jewish people that escaped the concentration camps. The struggle in the wilderness is not ever discussed in history books. This will give you more information about what did Jewish people have endured. It’s an excellent read.
