He has also covered the San Francisco Giants and Oakland A's and worked as a national baseball writer. He is a Hall of Fame voter and has served as chairman of the Los Angeles chapter of the Baseball Writers Association of America since 2015.

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Pretty boring. Maybe if you're a casual fan it might bring something new to the table, but every day baseball fans won't learn anything new. Towards the end of the book the author discusses why the All Star Game was moved from Atlanta to Colorado and says it was because Rob Manfred protesting Georgia's Voter Integrity Bill. This is true. But then he says it was "What most people considered a thinly veiled law directed at suppressing minority votes". This was the left-wing accusation, of course, that the media and sports writers were happy to parrot. "Most people" didn't feel that according to pills, and it was only Manfred bowing to the ESG Corporate leaders. It didn't sway my opinion of the book, but I thought it was a silly enough comment for me to leave a comment about.
