- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5This audio book is awful! DO NOT LISTEN! This book is FULL of outdated information! Your dog WILL NOT show aggression because he sleeps in your bed! Dogs do not view us in terms of rank and you do not need to worry about your dog being pack leader because you didn’t feed him after you! This is all nonsense. Love your dog, let him sleep in your bed and DO treat him as part of the family-that’s what he is! I listen to part of this because I thought I might learn something, I was wrong. Dominance theory has been debunked since 1999!! Awful advice and incompetent author. I would not hear anything else he has to say in relation to dogs.
DO NOT use a bark collar, you do not need to punish your dog… ever! Just do yourself a favour and don’t listen to this nonsense from this author on anything dog. Hot Sauce for leash biting?? Are you crazy? If someone is reading this… get your pup used to the leash indoors… distract with good food (piece of chicken for example) and keep your session short to begin with, do this informally, 30 seconds or less to begin then take off the lead while distracting with food. You DO NOT need to punish the behaviour! Great way to create a scared miserable dog who lives ONLY to serve you. Your dog doesn’t care if you’re calling yourself the pack leader, but he has no concept cos he doesn’t want to be that! So don’t take steps to make sure you’re trying to show the dog who’s pack leader!! He will NOT try to fill the pack leader role if you don’t! The concept is ridiculous. Honestly, as this goes on, it gets much more in the land of unicorns!
