About this audiobook

Despite his passionate love for Ardfalloch, Iain has been driven to let his home and estate to Mr Hetherington Smith, a wealthy London businessman, and his kindly wife (who was, truth be told, happier when they were poor). MacAslan stays on in a cottage by the loch, aided by his devoted keeper Donald and Donald’s wife Morag. But he finds himself irresistibly drawn to Linda Medworth and her young son, invited to Ardfalloch by Mrs Hetherington Smith.

Intriguing, morally fraying, and emotionally exhausting. A one time read.

Enjoyed it till the end, when a character placidly describes to his wife murdering someone. I've loved many of this author's books, but not this one!

Wow this book is totally unlike any others by the author. While very entertaining it has some very dark aspects. The H&H are very human and kind, and the villain is completely villainous. It is a morally clean story with little language but with mystery and some violence, although not graphically related. If you want to read something totally unusual from Miss Stevenson, this would be it. Highly recommend. Narrator does a great job.
