- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Book 2 in this series was an improvement, I was close to giving this a 4 out of 5 stars but again the narration held me back a little.
This sequel definitely upped the storyline with trying to get one of their loved ones back, having to deal with the threats and attacks by Vincent’s henchman and pack, and trying to handle Ava’s new powers and garnering her leadership potential to win over her own pack and others.
I enjoyed the additional layer Ava got with her powers and how they could be used to help make their side stronger. I also loved the other pack they met, so adorable haha. The way Persephone is behaving though makes me worried about book 3, after how she last spoke and interacted with Ava. I am interested if the Raven is going to be more of a storyline or not n this one, after all the hype and then reveal about who she really is. We get some emotional moments, building the relationships between Ava and her mates (I cannot wait for her to accept them and they all become bonded!). I loved her learning more about her dad and why he did the things he did. I was intrigued by the guys, I will say I kept getting 2 mixed up because they seemed lie a package deal and very similar so I was getting them confused. I was really happy to see Declan and Ava get over their issue, I am happy the group scene between 2 of them and Ava went well haha. I am hoping Lucas can get back into the picture more now that he is back to normal, almost. Ava needs to let these guys in before its too late! Wish book 3 was on audio though, so I could “read" it faster, as I am normally a slow reader but a fast listener.
Narration was a little better here. I thought there were more dynamics in this one compared to the last. The female narrator still was pretty monotone for some scenes that didnt warrant it. Make narrator was great (I first heard him on another RH years ago, what kind of cemented my love of audiobooks so my brain is like he can’t be this guys, he is in that other world hahah). He does a good job with his performances.
