About this audiobook
"Almarie Guerra is wonderfully cast to narrate Cardinal's fabulously creepy murder mystery...Guerra's well-paced performance, including her perfect Spanish pronunciation, will keep listeners engaged with the suspenseful narrative, which is equal parts crime investigation, macabre ghost story, and slow-burn romance. For thrills and chills in a tropical setting, this is the ideal pick." — AudioFile Magazine, Earphones Award winner
Ann Dávila Cardinal's Five Midnights is a “wickedly thrilling” (William Alexander) audiobook based on the el Cuco myth set against the backdrop of modern day Puerto Rico.
Five friends cursed. Five deadly fates. Five nights of retribución.
If Lupe Dávila and Javier Utierre can survive each other’s company, together they can solve a series of grisly murders sweeping though Puerto Rico. But the clues lead them out of the real world and into the realm of myths and legends. And if they want to catch the killer, they'll have to step into the shadows to see what's lurking there—murderer, or monster?
“A frightening, fast-paced thriller.” —Julianna Baggott, Alex Award-winning author of Pure

- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5This should have to pay I need to do it for a class and now I have no audio
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5I just did not enjoy this book and I was really intrigued to read it since the setting is in Puerto Rico, my home island! The fact that it portrayed Puerto Ricans as English/Spanglish speakers just rubbed me the wrong way! This is a Spanish speaking community and yes there are ppl that do speak English but it felt like everywhere English was spoken. While in the metropolitian area mainly San Juan it does receive a heavy influx of tourist it just doesn't feel true to what I'm exposed to living on the island. Aslo why do a lot of the islanders presented hate Americans? Plus Lupe acts "femenist" but her actions come off so rude and she feels more like a spoiled brat! Also is there a way a Puerto Rican looks because it was mentioned more than once that Lupe wanted to look Puerto Rican? There are many more issues that I had with this story but on a positive note I did enjoy the description, traditional food, and the take on el Cuco.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Props to the narrator, the only thing that made this thing look like not a complete waste of time.
