Emily Brontë
Emily Brontë (1818-1848) was an English novelist and poet known famously for her only novel, Wuthering Heights. The work was originally published in a three-volume set alongside the work of her sister Anne. Due to the politics of the time, she and her sister were given the names Ellis and Acton Bell as pseudonyms. It wasn’t until 1850 that their real names were printed on their respective works. The initial reception of Wuthering Heights by the public was not favorable. Many readers were confused by the novel structure—they had not previously encountered a frame narrative (story-within-a-story) as unique as that of Wuthering Heights. Emily Brontë died from tuberculosis at age thirty, only a year after the publication of her landmark book. Alas, she didn’t live long enough to revel in its legacy; the book later became an iconic work of English literature.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I read this book for my AP Literature class. I loved the teacher, loved the subject matter, and loved pretty much everything else we had read, so I had high hopes for this book. I must say, I made a genuine and sincere effort to like this book, I really did. I got half way through with no hope in sight, yet I perservered, hoping the second half would show promise in the next generation. No such luck. Although nothing tops the finale "love scene" between Heathcliff and Katherine, with Heathcliff foaming at the mouth and a verbal battle of "no, YOU killed me" "no, you killed yourself" (a stupidity hiterto unknown since the "no YOU'RE prettier" battles). Eventually, the final pages came into view and I was desperate- there must be some redemption for this junk! Some message, some ending sequence, SOMETHING that makes this worthwhile. The characters are so self-absorbed and posses an unprecendeted lack of intelligence, yet are still portrayed as intelligent by the literary world, that it seemed like the only fitting ending would be the characters realizing their stupidity and engaging in a mass suicide. No such luck. Every last word was idiotic and as empty as the first. But you know what grinds my gears even more than the fact that I wasted a week on this worthless pseudo-classic? It kills me that people not only mistake this hoax for real literature, but reference it for ROMANTIC value! Foaming at the mouth, marrying someone you don't love, wow.... now that's a level of romance lovers fantasize about achieving.

what an incredible talent to be able to write a book of this beauty and
for those who need it in a profound and meaningful way, this book is a
gift Oh really. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Its obviously amazing... I just lvd it... Mainly the concept over 'love' and the presentation of symbols & images marks thebrilliance..Wuthering heights central theme revolves around Catherine and Heathcliff's self destructive love. It's not just self destructive it also affects the life of the people around them. I just love this novel and love how the author has shown the characters. Many people think this is a very romantic novel about the undying love between Heathcliff and Catherine but it's not. The author Emily Brönte never says that. The narrator of this novel is a character known as Nelly who has been the housekeeper at both the houses involved in the story. She says the story through her viewpoint and the characters are for us to interpret. Even she hates both the characters. The relationship between Heathcliff and Catherine is toxic and the I think the narrator intended to show it like that. For those who say that it's not a love story and that they hated the characters and all I agree with u because it's not one and it was never meant to be considered as one. And the characters were written as people who most people would hate. And last of all I would like to say that this novel is not for everyone. It's dark and contains violence and it's not for the weak hearted. Those who are looking for like a touching love story with lovable hero and heroine shouldn't read this. Look for other classics like Jane Eyre or Pride and prejudice for example.thanks for such book

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5The contrast between the untamed wilderness of the moors and the civilized world of Thrushcross Grange symbolizes the conflict between nature and civilization. Brontë uses the natural landscape as a metaphor for the characters' inner turmoil and the wild passions that govern their lives.

The novel is narrated by Mr. Lockwood, a newcomer to the moors who rents Thrushcross Grange from Heathcliff, and Nelly Dean, a servant who provides insight into the complex relationships and events that unfold at Wuthering Heights and Thrushcross Grange.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Certain novels come to you with pre-packaged expectations. They just seem to be part of literature's collective unconscious, even if they are completely outside of your own cultural referents. I, for instance, who have no particular knowledge of--or great love for--romantic, Anglo-Gothic fiction, came to Wuthering Heights with the assumption that I was picking up a melancholy ghost story of thwarted, passionate love and eternal obsession. Obsession turned out to be only accurate part of this presumption.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Central to "Wuthering Heights" is the theme of love and passion, which drives the actions of its characters and shapes the course of their lives. Heathcliff and Catherine's love is all-consuming and transcends societal norms, yet it is also destructive and ultimately leads to tragedy.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Wonderful book,i have gone through all the books of this collection and all are really amazing.Regarding sexual romance i realise after getting this audio book more satisfaction. The story of this audio book is very much interesting and enjoyable..Feeling so close to someone as not to know where you end and they begin is either a sign of profound affinity or a profound delusion. Love is merciful and cruel, generous and selfish, sorrow and ecstasy. We all lose something and gain something by choosing to give into another person. Change is inevitable. Sometimes we get stronger, sometimes we are ruined. Sometimes it is a little bit of both. Some of us find their worthy partners, some, sadly, never do. But I believe that no matter on which side of the coin you turn out, staying faithful to yourself is always the right choice.thanks for pproviding me such an amazing book.highly recommended
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Brontë explores the rigid social hierarchy of Victorian England and its impact on individual lives. The divide between the wealthy Lintons of Thrushcross Grange and the rugged Earnshaws of Wuthering Heights serves as a backdrop for the novel's exploration of class conflict and prejudice.
