About this audiobook
Julia Cloud, the oldest--and most responsible--child of her family, helped raise her four siblings due to their mother's long-time illness and father's death. After faithfully nursing two ill brothers (who died), she then cared for her invalid mother for many years. When Julia's mother passes on, her only surviving sibling Ellen fully expects--and nearly demands--that her spinster sister come live with her family. But to earn her keep, Julia must be their live-in housekeeper and babysitter for Ellen's four children. But Julia's college-age niece and nephew arrive unexpectedly from California and offer Aunt Cloudy Jewel a surprise opportunity she never expected in her wildest dreams. (Summary by Joy Easton)

She was born in Wellsville, New York, in 1865 to Marcia Macdonald Livingston and her husband, Rev. Charles Montgomery Livingston. Hill’s writing career began as a child in the 1870s, writing short stories for her aunt’s weekly children’s publication, The Pansy. She continued writing into adulthood as a means to support her two children after her first husband died. Hill died in 1947 in Swarthmore, Pennsylvania.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This written story content was excellent, however it was very frustrating listening to (I lost count) 6 or 7 readers in which there were 2 male voices and one named Anna S. from Portugal that read 6 of the 30 chapters. Anna from Portugal was very hard to understand as she mispronounced words and I had to pay attention thoroughly to get the main part of the story she was reading. I could not see her lips for interpretation. Please don’t continue to use her in English language listening stories. I am an avid reader of audio books. I will not be listening to anymore stories with so many readers & foreign accent readers I have a hard time figuring out. Thank-you!

- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5I did not like so many people narrating this book… it totally took away from the story
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5A sweet story of a lonely woman and lonely children who make a wonderful family.
