About this audiobook
A redemptive story from multi-platinum recording artist Sara Evans. Jade Fitzgerald left the pain of her past in the dust when she headed out for college a decade ago. Now she’s thriving in her career and glowing in the light of Max Benson’s love. But then Jade’s hippie mother, Beryl Hill, arrives in Whisper Hollow, Tennessee, for Jade’s wedding along with Willow, her wild younger sister. Their arrival forces Jade to throw open the dark closets of her past–the insecurity of living with a restless, wandering mother, the silence of her absent father, and the heart-ripping pain of first-love’s rejection. Turns out Beryl has a secret of her own. She needs reconciliation with her oldest daughter before illness takes her life. In the final days leading to the wedding, Jade meets the One who shows her that the past has no hold on her future. With a little grace, they’ll meet in the middle, maybe even before that sweet by and by.

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5With a storyline and main character that makes you feel like them immediately, The Sweet By and By presents a story of decisions that everyone makes and what those decisions may lead to in the future
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Sweet, quick read. I hope to read more by this team soon!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5It's no secret that I am a huge fan of Rachel Hauck, so I was thrilled to have the opportunity to review The Sweet By and By. It is a heartwarming story of the ties that bind a family, of finding faith you didn't know existed, and having the courage to forgive yourself. Was the ending a little too perfect? Definitely, but the relationship between Jade and Beryl, and ultimately, the relationship Jade has with herself, is heartbreaking and hopeful. Who couldn't use a little perfect every now and then? A very promising debut by Sara Evans.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5The story tells the tale of Jade Fitzgerald and her coming to terms with her past; her relationship with her hippie mother, her absent father and her first love who shattered her heart. Jade has fallen in love and is getting married but her past won't leave her in peace. I enjoyed how the story was told in flashbacks. It let you learn about the characters slowly and you learned how past events were influencing the present. Jade and her parents have not had contact in years. There is blame on both sides and much lack of communication. I feel the ending came too fast and was much too contrived given the slow build up of the beginning chapters. It is Christian fiction so be aware of that. Not being religious I didn't find that part of the tale realistic. I did, though, enjoy the book for the most part.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I Will have to say WOW! This book was fantastic and probably one of the most emotion-stirring storis I've read in a long time! It's a beautifully writen and heartwrenching story about life, love, and faith. 'The Sweet By and By' also teaches us about family relationships and how some things are more important in life than holding grudges. The writers did a wonderful job in geting the story to us in an emotional way. I could feel the character's pain and love throughout the storytelling. This book really hit a place in my heart.I would reccommend that you go out NOW and get this book. I give it 5 stars all the way!
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Rachel Hauck is a favorite author and I absolutely love her Sweet Caroline and Love Starts with Elle, however this book I do not love. I like this book and it is interesting and entertaining, but it is not quite my cup of tea. I could not really relate to the characters personally and it made it hard for me to enjoy it. I could easily see this story being a Hallmark film and would definitely watch it and encourage others to do so as well, it is just not a favorite.

- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5This was a cute, heart wrenching, and mildly predictable but still enjoyable christian romance. Country singer, Sara Evans, and Rachel Hauck team up to write this sappy, endearing novel about redemption, heart break, and true love. Jade has an ugly past. Her parents all but abandoned her and her brother and sister and let their grandmother raise them while she was off living vicariously from man to man. When Jade turns sixteen she secretly marries her high school sweetheart only to have her heart broken. Now in her thirties and engaged, Jade begins to have doubts. Can she ever leave the past in the past? Confide in her fiance? Forgive her hippie mother? Find Jesus? For a Christian romance I was impressed. It wasn't overly Godly and the characters had real, relatable flaws.
