Forgive me Gods of Triathlon, for I have sinned. It’s been one month since my last confession, and I have been guilty of the sin of overconfidence, to the point of being cocky, in my bike-handling skills.
I don’t know why I’m seeking forgiveness, to be honest, because they’ve been swift with their retribution. Worse still, it was also quite public. This is, of course, the time ofrace season beckons and it’s time to leave my past failures behind and embark on some new failures, so I’ve been doing quite a lot of miles on my bike. However, as we all know, all it takes is one lapse of concentration – or one moment of hubris to be more accurate – to put all your dreams of PBs in the same bin as your New Year’s resolutions.
