WHAT AN ENDURO RIDER LEARNT FROM XCM

I consider myself to be a pretty run of the mill mountain biker. My weekends are characterised by an early start followed by a few hours with my friends out trail riding. Cruise up the hill, smash back down and repeat until my water bottle is empty and my legs are sore. Unlike the other two main categories of mountain biking (XC and DH) I find Enduro riding gives me the best combination of thrills, social engagement and physical exertion to keep me coming back for more.

While I have done some downhill riding and racing, it never really stuck. The effort involved with organising shuttles has always dulled my enthusiasm, particularly when my local trail network is only a short ride away. Similarly, I have entered a few local XC races on my Enduro bike but again – not really for me. While I enjoyed racing bar to bar, I could never be enthused to give it a red-hot
