Luke Theochari and Terry’s Beetle Services are legends in the UK VW scene. I remember reading about his and his beloved late wife, Helen’s, cars in VolksWorld before I was even old enough to go to Volkswagen shows.

When I did finally talk my older brother into taking me to my first Bug Jam in 1991, I saw Luke and Helen’s red Oval Window Beetle in person (you know, the one that was later painted black with green flames).

But the one that really blew me away, and anyone who was a part of the UK VW scene back then will remember it, was Moody (and later Moody II), Luke’s race cars.

Yet to talk to Luke, you wouldn’t guess any of this. He’s one of the most humble and unassuming guys in the scene,
