After a rather long campaign of strangely opaque marketing, Warlord has launched their attempt to do just this: Achtung Panzer! And it is pretty good. It is well thought-through, well balanced, and well written.
At its core, Achtung Panzer! is a d6-based game with all the information players need to control each tank conveniently collated on that tank's card and tracked with a range of very tiny tokens, particularly ammunition and crew members' abilities, which players get to fine-tune and assign pre-game from a randomised total. Games are designed to accommodate a handful of tanks per player and should take a couple of hours to play.
The authors (Mike Bradford and Roger Gerrish - not Heinz Guderian) have done a tremendous job of streamlining tank battles in two very significant ways: by homogenising the key aspects of all the tanks in the game (shock!
