UTILISING natural daylight as I do, I know that my birdroom lends itself to slightly later breeding than other breeders who employ extra lighting, etc. For that matter, there are those who Enjoy better Weather conditions than we do here in the North West.

Keeping track on Facebook, I notice many early breeders (of all canary varieties), have run into difficulties this year: clear eggs, incomplete clutches, hens leaving their nests and dead-inshell. It reminds me of the “tortoise and the hare” story in a way and demonstrates that there is no substitute for waiting until your birds are absolutely in tip-top condition, before getting breeding operations underway – regardless of the calendar.
