THE PRESERVATION MOVEMENT PAYS TRIBUTE TO NICK BALDWIN

People travelled from Barrington to Shepton Beauchamp by bus, courtesy of July 1950 Bristol K6B KUD972 with ECW 55-seat bodywork. The Western National omnibus was in service until 1969 based at Exeter when it was bought by steam owners the Pierce family from Borough Green, Kent. They used it for moving their soft fruit workers about until the 1980s when David Hoare took it on at Winkleigh, Devon and the K6B has been back on the road since 2012.

We were welcomed to the Church of St Michael by Revd Geoff Wade; the church has 13th-century origins, although it has extensively changed since then, with major renovation in 1865 by George Edmund Street and today is designated as a Grade 1 listed building.

The opening prayer was by Revd Tim Cook who was the vicar here when Julie
