Looking at some of the engines in a bit more detail, the Burrell name was certainly dominant. Leading the way was 4in roller Land Sub which was built from a Steam Traction World kit in 2019, being bought a year later by Anthony Morton of Wrexham, while the first of several road locomotives to be spotted was Robert Rayner’s 4in Burrell Lazarus. This engine has been owned by Robert for the last three years, being re-tubed in 2022 as well as undergoing an overhaul of its running gear.

Then came Andrew Goddard’s 4in scratch-built 6hp was built five years ago using a Steam Traction World kit. This engine is named after Captain Cook’s famous ship, not that surprising as its owner shares the surname of the famous explorer.
