Film: I GET KNOCKED DOWN
Viewing for a certain deputy prime minister perhaps: Dunstan Bruce, the frontman of anarchist indie band Chumbawamba, looks back with a surprising amount of honesty and humility. “I’m a washed up, rinsed out retired radical,” he says, talking to his inner voice, Babyhead (a guy in a papier mâché mask). The film, co-directed by Bruce and Sophie Robinson, goes back to 1982, when Chumbawumba were an anarchist collective in Leeds. They gave away a lot of the money they made from their one hit, Tubthumping, and at the 1998 Brit Awards, poured a bucket of cold water over deputy prime minister John Prescott over the government’s treatment of Liverpool dockers.
