“Mr. William Grainger, of Carlisle, has just completed forty years as a passenger train driver on the North British Railway. Mr. Grainger, or ‘Old Bill’ as he is familiarly called by all and sundry, is well-known all over the Southern section of the North British system. He at present runs trains from Carlisle to Gretna and Riccarton, and also the 6-15 p.m. slow, Hawick to Carlisle, daily.
