TRAILCREW TWRCH TRAIL, CWMCARN

Getting out and riding as a team is a rare treat, as it’s always challenging to coordinate a day free of laptops and full of forest laps. But this month we managed it, albeit with weather that didn’t quite play ball. We set our sights on Cwmcarn Forest in South Wales, a trail centre that offers two XC loops, a short but fun blue trail, a small pump track, two downhill runs and some excellent, semi-official off-piste descents. Having ridden the newer Cafall Trail for our last couple of Trail Crew features here, we decided to revisit the original Twrch Trail, a red-graded route spanning nearly 14km. We prepared for a blend of flow, tech and gruelling climbs.
