STEP BY STEP Transplant potted dahlias

Plant out hardened-off dahlias, checking for low temperatures or pending storms. Soak plants before planting. Stake taller cultivars and add a top dressing of high potassium fertiliser to encourage flowering.

1 SUPPORT the plant with your fingers splayed when turning it over to drop it out of the pot. Check that it has rooted to the edge of the pot before planting.

2 ADD peat-free multipurpose compost or rotted manure to the planting
