Agents & Editors Conference

The Writers’ League of Texas (WLT) 2024 Agents & Editors Conference will be held from June 21 to June 23 at the Hyatt Regency on Lady Bird Lake in Austin, Texas. The conference features presentations, panels, authors in conversation, and a keynote address for fiction and creative nonfiction writers. Participating publishing professionals include agents Sarah Bowlin (Aevitas Creative Management), Jennifer Chen Tran (Glass Literary Management), Natalie Edwards (Trellis Literary Management), Cherise Fisher (Wendy Sherman Associates), Robert Guinsler (Sterling Lord Literistic), and Michaela Whatnall (Dystel, Goderich, and Bourret). The cost of the conference is $509 for WLT members and $569 for non-members. One-on-one consultations with editors and agents are available for an additional $50. Lodging is available at the conference hotel for a discounted nightly rate of $209 for a single- or double-occupancy room. Admissions are rolling through June 21. Anne LaBastille Memorial Writing Residency

The Adirondack Center for Writing will offer a two-week residency from September 22 to October 6 to six poets, fiction writers, and creative nonfiction writers at a lodge on Twitchell Lake in the Adirondack Mountains in New York. Three of the residents will be chosen from the Adirondack region and the other three from anywhere else in the world. Residents are each provided with a private room and bathroom, work space, and meals. There is no cost to attend the residency, but residents are responsible for travel expenses to and from Twitchell Lake. To apply, submit a writing sample of up to 10 pages and a cover letter with a $30 application fee by May 19. Visit the website for more information.
