I’m good at pretending to be comfortable. People often comment on how laid-back I am, even in stressful situations. In high school, my friends would laugh when I gave oral presentations because my voice would unintentionally sound relaxed and conversational – even when talking about something like the Rwandan genocide. This “chill” exterior has always been at odds with what’s going on upstairs.
