When Tara Jane was little, she loved painting fairies, decorating storybooks and drawing little characters to play with in her garden. Her mind was blown when she first watched Spirited Away as a child. Now as an adult, she’s still creating whimsical landscapes in her spare time. “I’m inspired by nature and the things I loved in my childhood – gardens, places that look overgrown and magical, places your soul can venture away to,” she says.

As art has always played an important role in Tara’s life, she now works as a youth psychologist with a special interest in how the environment and mental health intersect. She started keeping an art journal as a way to experiment with making art that didn’t necessarily feel finished or perfect. “Sometimes I’ll work an idea over in my mind for weeks and paint a detailed piece of work,” says Tara, who sells her finished paintings online. “But my journal is
