Debbie George’s gentle, almost naive depictions of well-loved flowers in English china have won her a swathe of admirers across the country – and far beyond, thanks to social media. But it is the quiet view of the sheep-speckled hills of the Pennines from her studio, near Holmfirth in Yorkshire, that keeps her painting. “I am really lucky to be in such a beautiful part of the country,” she says. “Nature is a big influence on my work, I like to surround myself with flowers, plants and animals.”
