THE WORLD HEALTH Organisation (WHO) has announced a rise in cases of psittacosis in Europe, including five deaths in humans who had contracted the disease.
In February this year, Austria, Denmark, Germany, Sweden and The Netherlands reported anincrease in psittacosis cases observed during 2023 and at the beginning of 2024. The increase was particularly marked since November-December 2023.
