Unsurprisingly, in a longitudinal investigation of 150,000 people on the Swedish diabetes register, those whose risk factors (blood pressure, LDL cholesterol, Hba1c, estimated glomerular filtration rate, and smoking) were at recommended levels, were only slightly more likely to develop peripheral arterial disease than matched controls without diabetes.
