Two-Mile Shoot at Fort Mistake

A two-mile (3 200 m) shoot was hosted at Fort Mistake on 10 and 11 February. The history of the event was that in 2019 we were approached by Jaco Heyns on behalf of Truvelo to host an Extreme Long Range (ELR) shoot at Fort Mistake. We then found a site close to Fort Mistake Country Lodge where it was possible to host an event where we could shoot out to 2 000 m.

Fort Mistake Country Lodge is situated just off the N11, 35 km from Dundee between Ladysmith and Newcastle, KwaZulu-Natal.

Six competitors competed in Minor Class and eight in Major Class.

Ideas were then thrown around. The aim was to make the event accessible to anybody with an interest in ELR shooting. This led to the idea of a major and a minor classcompetition. It was decided to divide the classes around the 300 Winchester Magnum as the maximum calibre for the minor class.
