TOO SLOW!
I have just read a piece in your February issue letters page about the ERF YSM531. In the mid-1960s till the mid-1970s, I worked in the workshop of J H Moore Transport of Pump Lane. Hayes Middlesex. In the early 1970s Annis & Co Heavy Haulage, also of Pump Lane Hayes, sold out to Joe Moore. Joe started to replace the old Scammells with newer lorries, one of the vehicles he bought in was this particular ERF. It was purchased from J W Hardwicks of West Ewell. It was in the workshop for a while as our coachbuilder George Tayler built the crewcab extension. It was then painted in Annis colours and put to work, but didn’t stay long as it turned out to be far too slow for our needs and was soon returned to Hardwicks.
Hope this is of interest to you.
