Heart of the Country
“You’ve shattered my dream and managed to convinced dad to agree with you.”I push my freshly made hot chocolate aside. The dark cupboards in the kitchen feel like a fortressand, I have no hope of moving to Dublin.Dad’s expression is difficult to read, but somewhere in his face I see that he’d love to let me go but this time he is sticking by my mum’s decision.Dragging the skim on the milky drink to the edge of the mug I no longer want to drink it.The one thing that keeps me going while I’m studying is no longer appetizing.
