The great thing about having great mates on the other side of the world is the ‘reciprocal rights’ that come with each travelling to the other’s home and looking after them on a ride.

I first met Rich Gold when he and a bunch of mates from America travelled Down Under in 1998 to take on the famed trip to the tip with legendary Cape York trail boss Roy Kunda. From that day forth we always invited the other to ‘come on over’ anytime and we’ll organise a ride.

An invite like that was all I needed to fly to Los Angeles at the drop of a hat to hook up with Rich and the boys and go riding in his corner of the world. Rich
