At age 77, I’ve loved cars all my life. Like you guys. I want you to know that the January issue was superb, cover to cover—which is how I read Hemmings each month. The new banner atop the cover was inevitable, with HMN at age 70, and was well done. I loved peeking into other guys’ garages too.

I just received the January 2024 issue of Hemmings Motor News and at once went to the 1962 Oldsmobile Starfire article by David LaChance. The 1962 Starfire is one of my favorite cars, but I unfortunately have never had the pleasure of owning one.
I would like to point out that the Starfire was still produced for the 1966 model year, not 1965 as the article showed. The writing was on the wall though with just 13,019 produced. Let’s face it, those that wanted a personal and sporty luxury car from Oldsmobile (or any make for that matter), had the new Toronado to consider. It was no contest if you wanted an Oldsmobile.
It is interesting to note that the 1961 Starfire was only offered in convertible form and the 1966 was only offered as a hardtop.
