Backfire
Among the modern classics of the 1990s (May HMN), I noticed the glaring absence of the Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 Spyder, the first-production hardtop convertible sold in the U.S. since the 1959 Ford Skyliner. This beautiful car had four-wheel steering and driving, was faster, and more expensive than the Toyota Supra Twin-Turbo and rarer — only about 700 were produced in 1995 and 1996.

I am a little puzzled by the Modern Classics article in the May issue of Hemmings Motor News. I realize that the cars that were selected to be included in the article were subjectivity selected by your writers. However, I was really surprised that the retro Thunderbirds (2002-’05) were not included. I can’t imagine that they won’t be classics in the future. You can claim I am a bit prejudiced because I own a 2002 model.
What really gave me pause is when the 2004-’07 Cadillac CTS V and the 2008-’09 Pontiac G8 were included, and the retro-birds were not. The low build numbers and
