Mecum Auctions, Kissimmee

Mecum Auctions’ recent Kissimmee, Florida, sale lived up to its billing as “The World’s Largest Collector Car Auction” with a whopping 4,383 vehicles up for grabs and a record $275 million in sales.

The 25th annual event took place over 13 days at the Osceola Heritage Park in Kissimmee, Florida, January 2-14, and the 2024 vehicle count increased by 400 lots over last year.

In the second-place spot was a 1966 Ford GT40 Mk1 selling for $6.93 million. The list of top sellers included six exotic imports and five American muscle cars (which included the previously mentioned Ford GT40), a 1965 Shelby Cobra selling for $4.18 million, two L88 Corvettes (the first and last together in a lot) selling for $2.6 million, and a 1970 Lemon Twist Hemi ’Cuda convertible selling for $2.15 million.

This year Mecum included nearly 50 individual collections with a few notable standouts like a 1956 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing that hammered at $2.04 million, a stunning 1948 Tucker 48 that changed hands at $1.87 million, and a classic 1937 Hacker-Huskins 54-foot Commuter Yacht selling for $1.75 million. Although a multitude of Corvettes crossed the block this year in Kissimmee, one worthy of mention was the one-off Kindig-It Designs 1953
