Studies show that students and NASA researchers found that common houseplants could remove as much as 90 percent of certain toxins from the air in just 24 hours, creating a healthier indoor environment. What houseplants should you get? Laura Matter, a program manager at gardening nonprofit Tilth Alliance, suggests that tropical shade plants like peace lilies and philodendrons do best indoors, while English ivies and spider plants are best for improving air quality.
