Droitwich Spa Marina Caravan & Camping Park, Worcestershire

Looking for a convenient place to break a north to south journey, I came across this site, just under three miles from junction 5 of the M5 and opted to stay here based on location alone. But I enjoyed my stay so much, I have already made plans to return.

There are 12 roomy hardstanding pitches, each fully serviced with 16A hook-up, water tap and grey waste disposal. There are two combined toilet/ shower pods and an orchard camping field is available, too.

A reception/shop/ information point is shared with the on-site 238-berth marina and this stocks a selection of basic items (and ice cream!). A small children's play area can be found by the entrance to the marina complex.

The site is tucked between the marina and open, rolling farmland cross-crossed with public footpaths, so it's great if you have dogs, as there is no shortage of space for walkies. The proximity to the canal also means the site would suit those who enjoy fishing, kayaking or canoeing.

It's a pleasant and level 10-minute walk to the nearest pub, either along the canal towpath or through the fields. A mile along the towpath in the other direction is the charming town of Droitwich, which has a fascinating history linked to its natural brine springs, and where the summer months see the town's saltwater lido open to swimmers.

The National Trust's Hanbury Hall is three miles away and, within a 45-minute drive, you have Worcester, with its magnificent cathedral, the Severn Valley Steam Railway at Kidderminster, West Midland

Do you think the Department for Transport will act to change the law that allows passengers to be carried in the rear of motorhomes if there are no seatbelts fitted? MMM has long called for the law to be tightened in this area and what's brought this
