Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 DG DN OS Sports

The 70-200mm f/2.8 is a standard zoom for a great many photographers, thanks to the versatility of its focal range combined with a bright constant maximum aperture of f/2.8. Sigma’s new 70-200mm f/2.8 DG DN OS Sports builds on this versatility with its advanced optical design, built-in optical image stabilisation and high-performance autofocusing drive.

The external construction employs a combination of magnesium alloy and composite polycarbonate components to optimise both strength and lightness. Sigma’s ‘Thermally Stable Composite’ (TSC) is also used to reduce the effects of temperature on the precision of the lens’s mechanical operations. The barrel is fully sealed against the intrusion of moisture and dust while the exposed surface of the front element had a fluorine coating to help better repel moisture and grease.

The aperture collar – appearing for the first time on a Sigma zoom lens – can be switched between click-stopped and seamless adjustment (when shooting video) plus there’s an Iris Lock to prevent accidentally switching to the ‘A’ auto aperture control setting.
