Sigma And The Art Of High Performance Lenses

SIGMA 40MM F1.4 DG HSM ART

The latest addition to the Art line of high-performance lenses, the 40mm f1.4 is the first of Sigma’s photographic lenses to be developed with the objective of delivering the performance of a high-end cine lens, especially in terms of maintaining optimum image quality across the frame. It is built around the concept of “optical performance comes first”. Importantly, the focal length is very close to the diagonal length of a full-35mm format sensor.

The 16-element construction employs no fewer than six special elements – including three made from FLD (‘F’ Low Dispersion) optical glass – to effectively correct for both axial and lateral chromatic aberrations, ensuring a uniformly sharp image even at the maximum aperture of f1.4.
