PLANNED industrial action was postponed during the late afternoon of January 7, when the RMT announced that there had been “positive discussions”.
For much of the previous week Transport for London (TfL) had been preparing passengers for disruption – advising them to “only travel if their journey is essential” – which was due to start impacting services during the evening of January 7.
The industrial action, which had been announced on December 22, would have severely impacted London Underground services the following week. The strikes were staggered across a range of different specialisms and grades, with each striking for two days. Some engineering train drivers had already walked out on January 5 and 6, with
