80% of new Piccadilly Line trains to be built in Goole

SIEMENS Mobility has confirmed that 80% of the 94 nine-car 24 Tube Stock trains due to enter traffic on the Piccadilly Line from next year, will be built at its new factory in Goole.

Previously, construction was due to be split 50/50 between the firm’s Vienna site and the new factory, which has now been completed in Yorkshire.

Dynamic testing of the first preproduction cars is already well under way, with the first completed prototype train being unveiled at Wildenrath, Germany, last November (332).
