Electricity hike will cripple residents

civic organisations

CIVIC associations believe the 12.4% electricity price hike approved by the National Energy Regulator of South Africa (Nersa) will financially cripple residents who are still recovering from the previous year’s increase.

Selvan Govender, the secretary of the Phoenix Civic Movement, said the organisation disagreed with the timing of the increase because it came on the back of a water billing crisis.
