‘Water will return to taps this week’

MCHUNU’S PROMISE

THE clock is ticking as the deadline looms for water to be restored in Phoenix, Verulam and oThongathi (Tongaat) by tomorrow (Thursday).

On Sunday the Minister of Water and Sanitation, Senzo Mchunu, met with Phoenix residents at the Shastri Park Community Hall to update them on the water crisis interventions.

While some welcomed Mchunu, others booed him – to show frustration at the ongoing water outages since the April 2022 floods.

Mchunu was accompanied by advocate Vusi Khuzwayo, chairperson of the uMngeni-uThukela Water Board. He said work was being done day and night to ensure they
