Gourmet Escape

ARRIVING IN THE DARK is not my ideal start to a holiday. I like to drive dirt roads in the daylight and not have to dodge kangaroos. I also like to see my accommodation before I go to bed. Nothing beats the excitement of it coming into view as you drive towards it. Unfortunately, my arrival at the Cider Suite at Borrodell Estate in Orange was mistimed. A late departure from Sydney was to blame. But waking up to the view and having a cup of tea on the verandah looking across the vineyards and valley was simply a beautiful way to start the day.

I’ve visited Orange many times before, including a trip to show my children where I spent part of my childhood and another with my brother and our families to take a walk down memory lane. This particular trip was all about sampling the local produce – that is, to eat and drink as much as possible! And Borrodell
