Q Why have my runner beans produced a poor crop?

A A lack of moisture can seriously reduce crop size, causing flowers to drop off prematurely and pods to grow poorly. So, when preparing the ground for your crop before planting, incorporate lots of organic matter, which helps to retain moisture. If possible, and especially in dry spells, water the plants every evening.
