HUGE ENTRY ON BOXING DAY
The best day weather-wise over the festive season was certainly Boxing Day. Many made the best of it, getting their steeds out of the shed and taking to the roads across the country, particularly in East Anglia and the South East. Here, the traditional charity Six Bells Tractor Road Run takes place at the Burgess family Holms Hill Farm, just down the road from Cross in Hand, Heathfield, East Sussex. The lanes were packed as everyone made their way to the starting site, which featured free hot drinks and mince pies, courtesy of the Burgess family. It also gave everyone the chance to see Jeff Burgess’s stunning new restoration in the MB-Trac 900, which carries the turbo engine (fitted for only one year in this format). The tractorKent, and Surrey, totalling 148 by the time the tractors met at the Six Bells. This is the largest amount that has ever taken part, and all had a good time on this just under 10-mile run. It was pleasing to see a good mix of tractors of all ages with the Ford family dominating from Standard N Fordsons to E27Ns in petrol-paraffin and Perkins P6 versions, E1As in many forms in four-cylinder and six-cylinder configurations. But that was not all, with an array of Ford 1000 series and even a splendid blue Belgium-made EVA 5095. There were various 600, 10 and 40 series machines to New Holland’s finest here.
