Has the electric car stalled already?

Are sales now booming?

No. Sales of electric vehicles (EVs) are growing, but only at about the same rate as the market as a whole – and mainly thanks to fleet purchases by firms and leasing companies, rather than individual consumers. According to figures published last week by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), the total number of EVs sold in the UK last year rose by 18% to a new record of 315,000.
