Ouch! That Hurt

MATT DAMON & MINNIE DRIVER

The Good Will Hunting co-stars dated after meeting on set until Damon was asked about his relationship status while appearing on an episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show in 1998 and said he was single.

This was, apparently, news to Driver. “It’s unfortunate that Matt went on Oprah,” Driver said in an interview with The Los Angeles Times months later. “It seemed like a good forum for him to announce to the world that we were no longer together, which I found fantastically inappropriate.”

Driver addressed the brutal break-up again in December 2023 when responding to a comment that said she looked “so sad” in the audience in a video clip of Damon and Ben Affleck’s Oscar win for Best Original Screenplay.
