Netflix’s new show, Schitt’s Creek, has just premiered and with this one-liner, audiences around the world instantly become enamoured with Emily Hampshire’s portrayal of the deadpan and cynical Stevie Budd. Over the show’s six seasons, Stevie was solidified as a fan favourite and delivered iconic lines such as “What you lack in most things, you make up for in unsubstantiated confidence” and “I would rather be here by myself than engage in meaningless conversation with people I don’t care about.”

Fast forward to now, and upon walking into Emily’s room at The Langham hotel, I quickly realise just how different she is from her Schitt’s Creek character.
