Becoming a BUFFALO HUNTER

On the hunt

Ask anyone who's hunted buffalo and they'll tell you it's like no other hunt. I'm still a novice at the game, but I've learned a lot.

Buffalo hunting was the realization of a lifelong dream of hunting dangerous game in the Dark Continent. I read as much as I could, watched countless videos, and talking to hunters that had faced mbogo, charged my imagination.

A few years back, the light double rifles had caught my attention, and after much consideration, my choice was the Chapuis UGEX express double rifle in 9.3x74R, ballistically on par with the .375 flanged Nitro Express.

The 9.3 (.366) is the largest cartridge chambered on a 20ga double frame, and the smallest allowed for dangerous game, with over a hundred years of proven performance on all African animals, commanding accuracy and penetration at longer ranges (for large bores). Weighing in at six and a half pounds, this double rifle is a pleasure to shoot and carry afield, and I had included a 20ga set of barrels making it a great kit for wingshooting.
